About Nita's Nursery

It's a passion

I've been gardening for over 30 years, and have found my passion in growing plants.  I started growing my own starts and native plants because I couldn't find the herb/vegetable varieties and native plants that I wanted in stores.  After ending up one Fall with 400 broccoli and cauliflower starts, I realized that I could start a business that I love!

Gardening is life-long learning

I want to take the "black thumb" out of gardening, to make it simple and enjoyable.  Gardening is an ongoing experiment; some years, plants do great, other years not so much.  But there is always next season, always next year to try again, or try something new. I get the greatest pleasure from just being in my garden, and I hope to help my customers find the same.  Getting outdoors is good for you.  So you can create your great outdoors in your own backyard or patio!

Go Native/Grow Native

I became a Texas Certified Master Naturalist in 2015 and learned about the critical value of native plants in providing wildlife habitats.  It is such a pleasure to see what the native plants bring to my yard, whether it's their beautiful blooms or unique foliage, birds, butterflies, bees or other insects.  And it changes every season, even week to week.  I have replaced much of my lawn with native plants - Less Mowing, Less Water, More Birds, Butterflies and Bees.  You can create a habitat in your backyard and yes, even in pots on a patio.
